Video Game Bunker - Zero vs The Nerd: Milon's Secret Castle

  1. OK, now I know you have no idea what you're talking about.

  2. Query: In your Castlevania review, you complained about the weapon choice being arbitrary. Here, you defend the use of bubbles because, as you said, it's unimportant; they tear through raging demons with ease. So... which is it?

My problem with the whip is that they don't do anything with the concept. Whips are shockingly inefficient as a weapon, especially when faced with a house of enemies that want you dead. Whips are mostly used for intimidation and torture, not for actual combat. Indiana Jones uses a whip, but when was the last time you actually saw him in an all-out fight with it? He has the sense to bring a machete or a gun when he needs one. The one thing whips are famous for in those pulp serials are swinging from hooks and chandeliers, something that never happens until the 4th game, where you can also use it to whip in the 8 cardinal directions.

I suppose in retrospect I should've explained it better, but keep in mind it was my first video and I'm still trying to perfect my craft.

  4. My guess is the Nerd's only rebuttal to yours involves "LOLFATASS" padded with 50 extra cusswords read out of a "My First Curse!" pamphlet.

Because ad hominems make for great debate.

  5. I was one of the people who played through the game before the Nerd got a hold of it. Aside from having to look up the continue trick(I had no manual with my game), I beat the game alone. No guides. No "Getting Started". No Game Genie cheats. I beat and solved all of the puzzles of that castle on my own. I enjoyed it, and I felt great for pulling it off.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. However, I'd like to add another bit to the "fight-back" on the concept of secret doors; They also only appear on solid ground. So therefore, they can't appear on any possible square(with the exception of the door at that elevator in the purple room...I think. It's been a long while), slicing another (very)large portion off of it. In short, I appreciate someone like you stepping up. It's hard, yes, but it's a fair kind of hard. Maybe, MAYBE the last couple of demons could have been toned down a little in difficulty, but this game is NOT impossible.

    Keep up the good work.
